Been AWOL for a while. Things have been pretty hectic and crazy lately. My mum had a stroke. She’s on the mend now and should make a full recovery thank God, but it was pretty scary for a while there. Work’s been full-on and I’ve just finished my accounting course. Had the exam last week which I think went pretty well. I’m hopeful of a good final result. Fingers crossed!

In other news, I’ve decided to switch up my travel plans a bit and take a 6-week holiday in March. That’s only 4.5 months away! I’m just waiting to confirm I can get the time off work (should be OK). I haven’t really put much of a plan together yet. I just know that I’d like to spend a solid week in London, about the same in Paris and split the rest up between maybe Munich and some time driving around the UK. I’d also like to add in a couple of stopovers. After spending all afternoon yesterday trying every conceivable combination of flight dates and stopovers, I’ve found one that could work and is decently priced. Christchurch – Tokyo – London …… Paris – Los Angeles – Christchurch. If I get the all OK on Monday for the time off, then I’ll probably go ahead and book it.

I could be here in a few months!

I could be here in a few months!

I’m still checking out other options in the meantime and I have been looking at direct flights, without stopovers, but they’re not my preferred option. On the one hand, direct flights are cheaper and I’d get more time to explore the UK and Europe. On the other, I get terrible motion sickness and ALWAYS end up violently ill if I have to fly all the way from NZ to Europe in one hit. Plus I’d really like to visit Japan. I also wanted to have a stopover in Singapore, but when I alter the flights to do that the price goes up quite a bit.

Exciting times ahead! Watch this space.
